The Cefpodoxime 50 mg dry syrup is a prescription antibiotic medication, commonly given to children to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by killing the bacteria responsible for the infection. 

• Respiratory tract infections: Including pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and sinusitis.
• Ear infections: Used to treat acute otitis media (middle ear infection).
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Effective for infections of the bladder and urinary tract.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: Manages conditions like cellulitis and abscesses.
• Typhoid fever: Also used in children and adolescents for treating typhoid fever.

• Prescription Only: This is a prescription drug and should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.
• Complete the Course: Ensure the entire course of the antibiotic is completed as prescribed, even if the symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning and developing antibiotic resistance.
• Preparation: The dry powder must be reconstituted by adding sterile water (often provided in the pack) up to the mark on the bottle and shaking well. The prepared suspension should be used within a specified period (typically 7 to 14 days) and often needs refrigeration.
• Administration: The syrup is usually given with food to avoid an upset stomach.
• Viral Infections: This medication is only effective against bacterial infections and should not be used for viral conditions like the common cold or flu.
• Allergies and Health Conditions: Inform the doctor about any history of allergies to antibiotics (especially penicillins or other cephalosporins) or any existing kidney or liver problems, as the dosage may need adjustment.
