Luliconazole 1% lotion is an antifungal medication used for external application to treat various fungal skin infections like athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by killing the fungi that cause these infections and is available under brand names like LuliconazLuliderm, and Lulifin.

  • Uses: Luliconazole 1% lotion is primarily used to treat fungal infections of the skin, including:
    • Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), particularly between the toes.
    • Jock itch (tinea cruris), in the groin and buttock area.
    • Ringworm (tinea corporis), on the body or scalp.
  • Application & Dosage:
    • It is for external use only and should not come into contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.
    • A thin layer is typically applied to the affected area and about 1 inch of the surrounding healthy skin once daily.
    • The duration of treatment varies:
      • Athlete’s foot: usually once a day for 2 weeks.
      • Jock itch/Ringworm: usually once a day for 1 week.
    • It is important to finish the full course of treatment as prescribed by a doctor, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent the infection from returning.
  • Side Effects: Most side effects are minor application site reactions and typically resolve over time.
    • Common: Burning sensation, irritation, itching, redness, and dry skin at the application site.
    • Rare: Signs of a severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of lips/throat/face, difficulty breathing, nausea) require immediate medical attention.

    • Consult a doctor before using if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
    • Not generally recommended for children under 12 years for athlete’s foot/jock itch, or under 2 years for ringworm, unless a doctor advises it.
