Luliconazole (1% w/w) cream is prescription topical antifungal medication used to treat common fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by killing the fungus and providing relief from associated symptoms like itching and redness.
Uses
Luliconazole (1% w/w) cream is primarily used for various fungal infections of the skin:
  • Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot): Fungal infection that typically affects the space between the toes, causing itching and stinging rashes.
  • Tinea cruris (jock itch): Fungal infection that results in itchy, red rashes on the groin, upper thighs, and buttocks.
  • Tinea corporis (ringworm): A ring-shaped rash on the non-hairy surfaces of the skin.
Application and Dosage
The cream is for external use only and is typically applied once daily.
  • Application: Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying a thin layer of the cream and gently rubbing it into the skin. Wash your hands after use, unless treating the hands.
  • Duration: Treatment duration varies by condition. For athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), treatment usually lasts for one week. For jock itch (tinea cruris) and ringworm (tinea corporis), a two-week course is typical. It is important to complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent the infection from returning.
Potential Side Effects
Luliconazole cream is generally well-tolerated, with a low incidence of side effects.
  • Common Side Effects: Mild stinging or burning sensation, itching, redness, dryness, peeling, or flaking of the skin at the application site.
  • Rare Side Effects: Blistering, crusting, swelling, or rash; these could be signs of an allergic reaction, in which case a doctor should be consulted immediately.

  • It is a prescription medicine and should be used as directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Consult a doctor before using the cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use for longer than two weeks in a row without consulting a doctor.
