Albendazole 200 mg oral suspension is a prescription antiparasitic medication used to treat various types of worm infections (such as roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms) in both children and adults. It works by depleting the worms’ energy, causing them to die and be expelled from the body. 

• Treatment of Intestinal Worms: This is the most common use, effective against a wide range of intestinal parasites.
• Management of Specific Infections: It is also used to treat more serious conditions like neurocysticercosis (a tapeworm infection affecting the brain) and cystic hydatid disease (dog tapeworm infection in organs like the liver and lungs).
• Prevention of Re-infection: A doctor may prescribe a repeat dose after a couple of weeks to ensure all parasites are eliminated and prevent re-infection. 

• Nausea and vomiting
• Dizziness or headache
• Abdominal pain or diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Mild fever or sore throat

• Increased liver enzymes (regular monitoring is recommended) 

• Prescription Required: This is a prescription medicine and should be used only as directed by a healthcare professional.
• Administration: The suspension should be shaken well before use and measured with a proper measuring device (cup or syringe). It is best absorbed when taken with a fat-containing meal, such as milk.
• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: It is not recommended during pregnancy or for at least 5 days after treatment due to potential harm to the fetus. Reliable contraception is advised during and for a month after treatment. Consult your doctor if breastfeeding.
• Liver Disease: Use with caution in patients with liver problems, as it is metabolized in the liver, and dose adjustment may be necessary.
• Complete the Course: Finish the entire prescribed course of treatment to ensure the infection is fully resolved and prevent drug resistance.
• Hygiene Measures: To prevent cross-infection and re-infection, wash hands regularly with soap and water, cook meat thoroughly, and wash all fruits and vegetables properly.
